Wallace Lake Weed Harvester
2006 LH6-250 Harvester
with a stainless steel hull
Purchased from Inland Lake Harvester’s Inc. located in Burlington, WI
In 1985 an ecological survey of aquatic plants was conducted by the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee on Wallace Lake in conjunction with the DNR and the Wallace Lake Sanitary District in order to develop an effective vegetation management program. The current weed harvesting program was been developed as a result of the recommendations of that study. The weed harvesting program helps control non-native, aggressive vegetation and enhances recreational activities on the lake. The weeds are cut and harvested using a controlled plan in order to protect the lake’s fisheries. An area farmer takes the harvested weeds that are removed and composts them on his farm. The composted weeds are later used for fertilizer on his fields. Back to Wallace Lake Sanitary District |
