Town Ward Plan Changes
Based on the 2010 Census data, the Town Ward Plan is changing. Although the Town does not vote in Wards, many residents are familiar with their ward. Your Ward number will most likely be different beginning in 2012. In addition, your County Supervisor and State Assembly Representative may be different.

Absentee Ballot Facts: Your Vote Counts!
If you are unable to come to the polls on Election Day, you may request an absentee ballot. The ballot will be mailed to you with instructions and a postage-paid return envelope. You must be a registered voter in the Town of Trenton, and you must submit a written request for the ballot.
Absentee ballots are normally available three weeks prior to Election Day. Please call the Clerk's office on Friday mornings (675-6009) to request an application for an absentee ballot. You may also click on the following link for an Absentee Ballot Application. Be sure to follow the instructions on the application, complete it, and mail to Town of Trenton, P.O. Box 259, Newburg, WI 53060. Or you can visit the Town during regular hours (or special hours as listed before an election), and vote your absentee ballot in person. If you submit your absentee ballot application by mail for the next election, the ballot will be mailed to you as soon as it is available. Plan ahead! Ballots must be in the Town's mailbox on Election Day to be counted.
Election Odds & Ends
We have received requests from voters for online registration and online voting. State Election Law does not permit either one at this time. Any change to election law must be made at the state level. Contact your state legislators to register your interest in online election services.
Did you know that the entire state of Oregon votes via absentee ballot? No waiting in line, no costly polling place maintenance, less election training, less duplication of effort and personnel. Registered voters automatically receive ballots and postage-paid return envelopes for all applicable elections. If this sounds interesting to you, let your state legislators know.
Voter Registration
In October 2002, the federal government passed the Help America Vote Act of 2002 (HAVA). This legislation created new election administration requirements for all states and called for an upgrade of voting systems. Specifically, HAVA calls for the creation of a single, uniform, official, centralized, interactive computerized statewide voter registration list define, maintained, and administered at the state level that contains the name and registration information of every legally registered voter in the state.
The Wisconsin State Elections Board has been working on a Statewide Voter Registration System (SVRS) to accommodate the Federal Law. For additional information, visit the Wisconsin State Elections Board website.
