The Town Board is considering the proposal. Right now, they are not an option. If the proposal is approved, the Town resident do not have to purchase them; Veolia will own and maintain them.

The garbage cans are way too large to fit inside garages comfortably and it is an eyesore to have them stored outside – the lids do not overlap the base of the can and there is a gap – imagine a nice warm summer with garbage and recyclables baking in the hot sun? The bugs/ rodents, trying to get in the cans and and the smell? Shovel them out in winter?
This program is not good for town residents as they need to be put out in the driveways and that blocks them from entering or exiting after their placements – there are no curbsides on country roads as there is in the cities and subdivisions. I would have a problem entering my home on busy Hwy 33 –
If there is extra garbage that does not fit in the can – you are then obligated to wait until the next p/u date or pay to dispose it at the transfer station.
For those who want it, they should pay for the bins and let them do it- don’t look for freebies or force this on people who don’t want it or need it– those who don’t should be able to opt out – residents should not have to buy attachments to their vehicles to take their garbage out also.
A 7-10 year contract is too long – no reduction in fees on tax bill is too little– possible increases on tax bill after year 2-3 of this contract is too much – This is not smart business

It appears that Veolia has provided two different size wheeled contaners to West Bend residents where they also have the waste disposal contract. For many of us, the smaller 65 gallon containers are more desireable. Having negotiated and administered several long term municipal waste contracts in my career, I know that waste companies are willing to provide options as far as the container size. Please obtain information regarding the 65 gallon containers and let Trenton residents know of their response.

Thank You, Fred Kimble

Our (2-person household) current receptacle takes a beating and we have to replace it often. We would think the proposed bin is sturdier and can withstand the elements much better than the residential bins most everyone currently has. As long as the wheels are large enough so the bin is easy to wheel to the road, we am in favor of them.

cans are very large. My garbage bins cans have lids, I tied my lids to my cans to insure the lids would not be blown into the road or pond. The rope provided plenty of room to empty the garbage however the ropes were being cut off each week because it was a safety issue. are we to remove the lids before taking them to the roadside?

I don't agree with recycle every two weeks, thats too long.

Hello, I just wanted to throw something out there for the people who are concerned with getting the carts down a long driveway. There is a device called the Trashhopper that just connects to the hitch or your car (or atv, etc.) and can pull one or two of the wheelie bins at the same time. You can see them at trashhopper.com website.

I vote YES for new garbage/recycling containers. If not now, when? Our current system has got to be over 20 years old. We recycle more now than we did 20 years ago. A wheeled container is more efficient and easier to get to the curb. Plus, it has a cover that will prevent garbage being blown throughout town denigrating curb appeal. Carrying the small basket is a back-breaker and inefficient. Will the Town incur higher waste hauling expenses if we force Veolia or some other contractor to use outdated, expensive equipment? Need to consider that.

I would challenge Veolia on rate increases. Since new system will be more efficient, fewer trucks/drivers, I think the town should share savings.

Can we save more by recycling more? Need bigger containers for that.

It's time to move forward with modern, efficient, labor saving technology.
